Ms. Atwood has over 20 years of experience practicing in all areas of workers’ compensation defense counseling employers, carriers, and third party administrators from the inception to final closure of cases with the goal of mitigating damages. She has extensive experience litigating complex cases with lay and medical testimony, depositions, and oral arguments before the Workers’ Compensation Board Panel. These include fraud, death, Volunteer Firefighter, and UEF cases, with a particular interest in stress claims.
She performs file reviews and settlement projects. Ms. Atwood negotiates Section 32 settlements, drafts Section 32 agreements, prepares set-aside and medical allocation calculations, applies to CMS for approval of set-asides, and does conditional payment searches and appeals.
Ms. Atwood serves as one of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Coordinators and is a member of the Rochester Black Bar Association, Monroe County Bar Association’s Disability, Labor, and Employment Law and Diversity Committees, the New York State Bar Association and the Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys. She is also admitted to law practice in the State of Pennsylvania.
